The BBoy BBQ is a free community oriented event held annually to celebrate hip hop culture. All of the elements of hip hop – Breakdancing, MCing, DJing, and Graffiti – are represented in all-day block parties that take place in public spaces. The first BBoy BBQ was held in Phiadephia in 1997, created and hosted by legendary graffiti writer Pose2 of the world famous FX Crew. In the following decade plus, the BBoy BBQ has expanded to other cities and grown by leaps and bounds. In 2011, the BBoy BBQ went international! The first European BBoy BBQ was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, follwed by an incredibly successful event in 2012, and is returning this year for it’s third installment in 2013.
Philadelphia, PA
It All began in the City of Brotherly Love. Philadelphia’s history with Hip Hop culture is goes back almost as long as that of New York City. Keeping true to the culture, the BBQ in Philadelphia has always been a shining example of what hip hop is all about. Though the BBoy BBQ is no longer held in Philadelphia, we continue to draw inspiration from a full decade of events that became the stuff of hip hop legend in Philly.
Rochester, NY
You already know. If there’s one place in the State of New York where you can find real Hip Hop, it is none other than the Lost Borough, Rochester. Home of the globally expansive FUA Krew, Rochester boasts one of the most active true hip hop scenes in the United States.
For 7 consecutive years, FUA carried the tradition of the BBoy BBQ with a grassroots approach, and despite limited resources, they delivered consistently. Every year, FUA filled Clinton avenue with an impressive lineup of graffiti artists to fill the concrete with color and blasted good old fashioned homemade hip hop throughout the neighborhood.

Copenhagen, Denmark

For the third year in a row, the BBoy BBQ is going down in Copenhagen! On August 17, 2013 the BBoy BBQ will return once again to the Danish capital, though the event location is still to be confirmed. Showcasing competitions in all elements of hip hop, the event will feature a Head to Head Bboy Battle, a Freestyle Emcee Battle, a full lineup of DJs and live performances, and a mix of of Denmark’s finest will go head to head in an all day graffiti battle.
